Statement of Faith

I confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the one through whom all creation is redeemed and reconciled. Rooted in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, my faith is nourished by Scripture, shaped by the Sacraments, and expressed in the fellowship of the Church.

As a member of the Episcopal Church, I affirm its theology and practice: a balance of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason; a sacramental life centered in Holy Baptism and the Holy Eucharist; and a commitment to the gospel call of justice, mercy, and reconciliation. In the words of the Baptismal Covenant, I seek to “continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers,” and to “strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being” (Book of Common Prayer).

My formation in the Roman Catholic and United Methodist traditions gave me a broad foundation of faith: the Catholic Church instilled in me a deep reverence for liturgy, sacrament, and tradition, while the Methodist emphasis on grace, personal holiness, and practical discipleship shaped my vision of faith lived out in everyday life. These traditions remain part of who I am, enriching the ways I serve God and the Church.

Music has been both the language and the vessel of my faith. The chants and hymns of my Catholic upbringing, the robust congregational singing of Methodist worship, and the breadth of styles within the Episcopal Church have each deepened my encounter with God. Jazz, gospel, classical, folk, and contemporary Christian music alike have taught me that no single style exhausts the praise of God, but that all genres—when offered in faith—can bear witness to the beauty of holiness. As the psalmist proclaims, “Sing to the Lord a new song” (Psalm 96:1), so I believe that the Church is continually called to lift every voice in worship, drawing upon the diversity of musical gifts entrusted to God’s people.

In all things, I seek to live and serve as one who is shaped by the mystery of grace, sustained by the presence of Christ, and inspired by the Spirit to glorify God through music, ministry, and life.
